Threadworms (Pinworms)
Threadworms are tiny, very fine white worms up to 13 millimeters long that live in the intestine and around the anus (bottom). Threadworms (Enterobius vermicularis) are the only type of worm infection commonly seen in Australia, and they are widespread. Females produce large numbers of microscopic eggs, which they lay around the anus at night. Eggs can fall from the skin around the anus and stick to clothing, carpets, and bedding, become airborne when these items are changed or disturbed, and then they can settle in household dust. The worms are caught by accidentally ingesting the eggs, which then hatch and infect the intestine. Self-reinfection is also common and results from microscopic eggs sticking to fingers or lodging under fingernails after scratching the anal area and then being reingested. Also, since the eggs can survive for several weeks, infection can occur through contact with contaminated objects, such as bedding or clothing. Once the eggs are ingested, they pass into a person's small intestine (gut) where they hatch into larvae which then migrate to the colon and mature. When the worms are fully grown, the female comes out on the skin around the bottom at night and lays eggs. Worms can also often be seen on the stool or around the anus, especially at night. Threadworms do not go away on their own and people do not develop immunity to them, so they must be treated in order to completely eradicate them from the body. DiagnosticIf you suspect you or your child have worms, you should see your doctor, who can do tests to diagnose the condition and identify the type of worm involved. The doctor may do a "duct tape test," which involves gently pressing a piece of clear tape against the anal skin, then examining the tape under a microscope to look for eggs. Treatment of nematodes
Fortunately, the treatment of threadworms is very simple. Doctors advise treating the whole family if one member has worms, even if the others have no symptoms. This is because the worms lay eggs around the bottom, causing irritation and prompting scratching. As a result of this, or if you or your child do not wash your hands after going to the toilet, you will get the worm eggs lodged under the fingernails and then they can be brought to your mouth. Then the eggs return to the intestine, hatch and a new batch of worms are produced, thus starting the whole cycle over again. So, to avoid re-infection, make sure that:
nails, especially those of children, are cut short;
hands and under the nails are rubbed before meals;
you wash your hands thoroughly before eating and after going to the toilet;
bed linen and towels are washed in hot water and changed frequently;
hard surfaces are washed regularly;
vacuum carpets and furniture to remove eggs;
take a bath or shower every day in the morning to help eliminate the eggs;
you disinfect the toilet seat daily for a week after the treatment; and
children wear underwear and pajamas at night to help prevent transfer from the anus to the mouth. However, it is important to "worm" your pets regularly for their own health and also because children can pick up other types of worms from animals.
Pinworm Infection
When infected children scratch their itchy buttocks, the small eggs can slip under their fingernails. If the eggs are on your child's hands or toys and he puts his fingers or toys in his mouth, the small eggs can enter his body. When infected children move around the house, the eggs can spread and other family members can become infected.Parasites
Frequent hand washing, especially when changing diapers, will help reduce transmission to other family members. We test all newly returned children for parasites with 3 vials of stool, collected every other day (since they can spread intermittently). Frequently changing the infected person's underwear, bedding, and linens can reduce egg contamination from the local environment and decrease the risk of reinfection. Medicines to treat pinworms are mebendazole (vermox), pyrantel pamoate (available over the counter), and albendazole.# Video | Madenwürmer Im Stuhl

Pinworms In Children And Adults
At night, adult pinworms can sometimes be seen directly on the person's pajamas or around the anal area. Both adults and children can get pinworms, but worm infections are more common in children. Pinworm is the most common parasitic worm infection in the United States, and the majority of pinworm infections worldwide occur in children, in temperate climates. Institutional settings, including daycares, often house multiple people (adults and children) with pinworm infections. Adults are less likely to be infected with pinworms, with the exception of mothers of infected children.Madenwürmer Im Stuhl Bilder
